In the province of Krabi, the cherry on top of the cake is that it is not yet over-crowded by mass tourism. You could still enjoy and explore the most notable attractions without being hustled by a herd of tourists. Here are a few suggestions to make the most of your visit.
Krabi by Sea
Take a boat to the coastal beaches like Railay and Phra Nang, or go island hopping and snorkeling around Koh Poda or Koh Kai. Take a couple of tours at the beginning of your visit to get to know the place quickly, then spread your wings and explore.
Krabi coast offers a great playground for wannabe explorers by sea kayak. Go through mysterious mangrove forests that house an amazing fauna and flora, hop from beach to beach around one of the small islands lying off the coast, there's really a lot to discover and enjoy.
Krabi counts over 150 islands and islets off its shore. From the world-famous Phi Phi Islands and Koh Lanta to lesser known Koh Poda, Koh Hong, or Koh Rok, there are a stunning choice of day trips available.
If you want to go deeper under the surface, why not take a diving course? It takes just 4 days to become a certified diver, or just try a one day taster. Excellent dive sites lie within a short distance from the coast. Check out the dive shops in Ao Nang.
Explore Krabi hinterland with its hot springs, rain forests, and caves. Go walking in the Thung Teao Forest National Park - easy walking trails, natural swimming pools and back to nature Jacuzzis. Hire a car from your hotel desk, or take a tour.
Go elephant trekking, bamboo rafting or visit the the Tiger Cave (Wat Tham Sua) for breathtaking views of the province. A cool antidote to all that sun!! Go by yourself (rent a car) or take a tour.
Try your hands at rock climbing around Railay Beach. Courses are available at Railay and Tonsai with equipment included.
De-stress into another world. Be totally pampered with an ultimate body treatment in one of the many spas. Most are attached to hotels and open to non-guests. Alternatively, have a local Thai massage on the beach. You'll feel invigorated!
