Tew Lay Bar is a cool venue located off the beaten track on Railay Beach East. To get there, you need to follow the seaside trail that continues after The Last Bar (which obviously should be renamed) for about 350m. Situated on a small cape, this bar-restaurant-cooking school has the vintage vibe of the first bars that settled in Railay in the eighties.
Featuring seating areas suspended out on trees above the sea, hammocks, bamboo decking and Thai cushions, Tew Lay Bar is really a lovely place to chill out for a couple of hours under the shade of the trees. You can peacefully enjoy the view to Railay East Bay and its mangrove forest, while sipping a cocktail or a cold beer. The location of Tew Lay Bar also makes it a great sundowner spot. The atmosphere here is really peaceful, gently rocked by Reggae music classics.
Tew Lay Bar Highlights
Tew Lay Bar serves a good variety of Thai and international dishes and snacks. Prices are a bit on the steep side due to the remote location of the bar. For instance, you can enjoy here an American breakfast for 200 baht (2 eggs, 1 slice of ham, 1 slice of bread with butter and jam, orange juice and coffee or tea). Tew Lay Bar is mostly famous for its warm service and for its potent cocktails. From Mojito to Margarita, the cocktails served here are mixed with style, and charged 200 baht per glass. Tew Lay Bar is also famed for its excellent coffee.
Despite the seclusion of the place, you can stay connected with the rest of the world, thanks to the Wi-Fi at hand. One advice before to get there for sunset: spray yourself with a good mosquito repellent! The mangrove forest nearby Tew Lay Bar is not only a great pool for fish and crustaceans, it also houses many mosquitoes.
