Where and What to Eat in Klong Muang Beach
For the rest, it’s an adventure and a toss up between basic roadside dining, Irish, Thai or international fare.
Swiss-run Balini is popular with German-speaking visitors and is a simple roadside open-sided establishment. A 20-seater restaurant that deals in Thai cuisine with Swiss undertones, it is well lit and spanking clean. No loud TVs, brash music or chattering waitresses, it takes itself seriously.

It seems incongruous that people should come all the way to Thailand and eat Indian food. But when Thai cuisine is thrown in as well then it's a completely different ball game. Malati in the Sheraton Krabi Resort features just this combination. But don't turn your nose up at the hint of the 'F' word – fusion cooking, Malati doesn't 'do' fusion, choosing rather to serve alternative and complementing dishes in a clever combination of two of the world's most popular and tasty cuisines. The menu offers a choice of Thai and western delicacies cooked by Thai and Swedish chefs. Ruean Siam is an unpretentious local restaurant located right on the beach 300m after Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort entrance (there’s a small dirt-track off Klong Muang beach road with a sign indicating the restaurant). The restaurant and its surroundings are superb: a one-storey thatch-roofed building with a large open-sided dining area under the shade of coconut trees, it is almost a tropical cliché. Ruean Siam can comfortably accommodate up to 100 diners, and serve a great choice of Thai and international favourites at affordable prices. The atmosphere is relaxed, food is delicious, and the service is good even though most of the staff members only have rudimentary notions of English.

The Coconut Restaurant
The Coconut Restaurant is located along Klong Muang Beach Road 100m after the entrance of Nakamanda Resort. This rather large open-sided restaurant has its entire facade dressed with tropical plants and flowers while its dining room décor blends Thai and Italian influences with red and white table clothes, wooden flooring, and locally handcrafted ceiling lights. The menu follows the same influences as The Coconut describes itself as a Thai & Mediterranean restaurant: pizza (200/270 baht) and pasta (190/280 baht) go alongside tom yam (150/170 baht) and masaman curry (150 baht); there’s also a good choice of western dishes and sand sandwiches/burgers. Unpretentious and friendly, The Coconut Restaurant is a nice place for an affordable dinner at Klong Muang.
- Opening Hours: 12:00 – 00:00
- Location: 100m after the entrance of Nakamanda Resort
The Deck is the chic poolside restaurant of Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort. Perfect place for the whole family to spend a great day out, the restaurant is set on a large wooden deck shaded by coconut trees featuring comfortable seating and umbrellas, as well as a Balinese-style building hosting a stylish dining room, a bar counter and the kitchen. The view to the Andaman Sea is superb and offers a great sundowner spot. The menu features Thai and western favourites as well as a long list of cocktails (five types of Mojito!) and mocktails apt to satisfy the choosiest customers. Prices are pretty steep but quality comes at a certain price.

Italian is one of the most-loved cuisines in the world. In various permutations you can score pasta or pizza from Rome to Rotherham to Rio. Still, it's certainly not a given that just because a resort has an Italian food outlet the dishes will be as good as downtown Venice; quite the opposite, in fact. There are more misses than hits when dishing up Italian food, with diners becoming accustomed to dumbed-down versions of Napolitano cuisine due to the sheer preponderance of imitations. That's why it comes as a decidedly pleasant surprise to come across the Real McCoy in the form of an Italian restaurant that delivers the goods. Here's where Venezia, a trattoria in the Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra, comes into its own. Read More...
