Ao Nang Beach & Nopparat Thara Beach

The small town of Ao Nang is the primary launching point for fun in the sun, and just to the northwest is the quieter and less visited Nopparat Thara. They’re so close, it’s tough to tell where one stops and the other begins.

Hotels in both areas fall into one of two categories: nearly beachfront (if not for a beach road, ‘nearly’ wouldn’t be necessary) and away from the beach.

Not actually in Ao Nang, this is a lovely upmarket resort surrounded by cliffs on its own private bay (Pai Plong). The 192 rooms are well sized, standard rooms are fantastic – with special consideration given to outdoor living areas – but the villas are astounding.

The adventurous can walk to Ao Nang on a rough path, but the hotel's private speedboat is a better option.
