Ao Nang Beach & Nopparat Beach
Editor's Hotel Guide
The small town of Ao Nang is the primary launching point for fun
in the sun, and just to the northwest is the quieter and less visited
Nopparat Thara. They’re so close, it’s tough to tell where one
stops and the other begins.
Hotels in both areas fall into one of two categories: nearly beachfront
(if not for a beach road, ‘nearly’ wouldn’t be necessary)
and away from the beach.

Nearly Beachfront
4 Star | Beach View | Large Pools
| Ideal for Families
Two big pools, and only a footpath stands between the hotel and
the beach. 79 rooms split between five room types, plus one that’s
suitable for those with a handicap. Two restaurants in addition
to the admirable selection in town. Location and onsite play area
is perfect for children.
3 Star | Easy Beach Access | Mountain
Views | Great Pool | Some Bungalows
The 58 rooms are a combination of traditional hotel-style rooms
and separate freestanding bungalows. Spectacular green gardens surround
the pool and the simple outdoor restaurant has a reputation for
delicious food.
3 Star | Some Beach Views | Great
Location | Ideal for All
This 70 room resort has everything you need, nothing you don’t,
and it’s just across the street from the beach; perfect for the
budget-minded. Great for children. In Napporat Beach.

5 Star | Private Beach | Spectacular
Sea Views | Jacuzzi Rooms | Great for Couples
Not actually in Ao Nang, this is a lovely
upmarket resort surrounded by cliffs on its own private bay
(Pai Plong). The 192 rooms are well sized, standard rooms
are fantastic – with special consideration given to outdoor
living areas – but the villas are astounding.
The adventurous can walk to Ao Nang on
a rough path, but the hotel's private speedboat is a better
option. |

Away from the Beach
4 Star | Picturesque Views | Secluded
| Ideal for Couples
An intimate little hideaway within easy walking distance to Ao Nang;
ideal for couples. The twenty-room resort is enshrouded in lush
jungle and seems remote without actually being out of the way.
4 Star | Centrally Located | Lush
Gardens | Spacious Rooms
74 large rooms with almost-as-large balconies in a shaded jungle
around a central water feature. Located on a hillside with sea views
possible from some rooms and the rooftop swimming pool. Those with
mobility difficulties should request a ground floor room near reception;
walking paths and stairs require some effort. In between Ao Nang
and Nopparat Thara.
3 Star | Midrange | Quiet | Ideal
for Families
A quaint modern hotel. It’s away from the crowds and quiet, but
not so far as to be inconvenient. Rooms – there are only 20 –
are bright, fun, and border on cute. In between Ao Nang and Nopparat
Thara.
3 Star | Unique Design | Rooftop Pool
| Morroccan Style Building
With only 34 rooms and a rooftop pool, it’s more like a Mediterranean
mansion than a hotel. While not luxurious, the rooms are stylish
and comfortable. A very nice three-star hotel; a great compromise
between cost and quality. In between Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara.
3 Star | Quiet | Great Pool
In the general vicinity of Nopparat Thara Beach, but 600 metres
inland, this modern hotel has 50 rooms. Decorated in warm Thai-style,
good design sense and liberal use of wood throughout.
